Job Summary
Educational First Steps (EFS) is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic Assessor & Trainer with a strong background in early childhood education.
This role is responsible for conducting classroom assessments, supporting data-driven decision-making, and delivering high-quality professional development to early childhood educators. The Assessor & Trainer plays a key role in advancing program quality by translating assessment insights into actionable coaching and training aligned with accreditation standards and continuous improvement goals.
The ideal candidate is skilled in assessment tools, data analysis, and facilitation, and is committed to fostering growth, equity, and excellence across all partner centers.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
Assessment & Accreditation Support
- Conduct in-house assessments aligned with National Accreditation Commission (NAC) and NAEYC standards
- Utilize tools such as CLASS and internal assessment frameworks to evaluate classroom quality
- Provide clear, actionable feedback and coaching based on assessment findings
- Support centers in meeting and maintaining accreditation and quality standards
- Maintain knowledge of Texas Rising Star (TRS) standards to guide improvement efforts
- Travel to partner centers and hub locations to conduct assessments and on-site support
Training & Professional Development
- Design and facilitate high-quality professional development aligned with early childhood best practices
- Deliver training across multiple formats, including in-person, virtual, and self-paced platforms
- Serve as a Master/Registered Trainer (TECPDS), ensuring compliance with state requirements
- Coach educators on implementing strategies tied to assessment outcomes
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through training and mentorship
Data & Systems Management
- Enter and manage assessment data within internal systems (e.g., FreeAgent)
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, trainings, and participant progress
- Analyze data trends to identify targeted support opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams to align data insights with program strategy
- Utilize platforms such as Litmos, Hatch, CLASS, ASQ, and TRS to support decision-making
Event & Program Support
- Support planning and execution of professional development events, workshops, and convenings
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful delivery
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new systems
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, training, or coaching
- Experience conducting classroom assessments using CLASS or similar tools
- Strong understanding of NAEYC and NAC accreditation standards
- Experience with data analysis and using insights to guide coaching and training
Preferred Qualifications
- CLASS Observer certification
- Experience as a Master/Registered Trainer (TECPDS)
- Experience coaching and mentoring early childhood educators
- Familiarity with Texas Rising Star (TRS) and QRIS systems
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Additional Requirements
- Valid Texas driver’s license and current auto insurance
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the metroplex
- Ability to conduct classroom observations and facilitate trainings
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend events as needed
- Successful completion of a background check
Working Conditions
This role requires periods of sitting, standing, computer work, and active facilitation in classroom and training environments. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
